Fireworks For the King's Birthday

The beloved king of Thailand, his majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej or Rama IX, celebrated his 83rd birthday on December 5th. He is the longest serving monarch in the history of Thailand.

The king's birthday is an event used by his loyal subjects to express their love and respect to him. It is a big national celebration where public places and structures are lavishly decorated with flags and lights, and his pictures. Parks are also richly adorned with flowers. Fireworks is also one of the highlights which people are looking forward to witness.

For this year's celebration, we took our homeschoolers to the King's Park in Bangkok to witness for the first time, along with thousands of spectators, the spectacular event of the night of the king's birthday. Here are some of the photos I took. Enjoy!

It was indeed one event we like to witness again next year.
